LIVE BUTTERFLY PUPA
If you don't want to deal with hungry caterpillars, you can order LIVE butterfly pupa/chrysalides. When they arrive, they will have just pupated a few days before arrival so there is a guarantee that they will not emerge in transit. They will have a piece of leaf or stem (wherever they pupate) so you can glue or tape the stem onto a surface so they are hanging upside down. After around 9-14 days*, the chrysalis will emerge into a butterfly, and you can release the butterfly around a day after they emerge unless there is rain or storm.
Pupae are priced 2x higher than their eggs.

*Depending on the species, it can take anywhere from 9 days to 3 weeks. If you are purchasing Swallowtail chrysalides during the winter, assume that they are overwintering and that they will not emerge until the following spring. If you want them to emerge earlier, put them in a room with heat and humidity (70-85F, 60-80% humidity), and they should emerge in around 1 to 1 ½ weeks.
